Compared to the Honda Pilot, the Ford Explorer’s smaller engine generates 20 more horsepower and 48 more lb-ft of torque. Mated to a 10-speed transmission, it also gets better gas mileage at 21 MPG city and 28 MPG highway.

Ford Explorer’s V6 Overpowers the Weaker Honda Pilot Engine

The 2020 Ford Explorer also has a 3.0L V6 EcoBoost engine, which produces 365 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. This bests the Honda Pilot’s one engine by 85 horsepower and 118 lb-ft of torque.

A Performance Twin-Turbo V6 Available for 2020 Ford Explorer

By adding twin-turbos to the Explorer’s 3.0L V6 EcoBoost engine, Ford increases power output to 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. This is 120 more horsepower and a whopping 153 more lb-ft of torque than the Honda Pilot.
