It’s back and better than ever. The legendary Ford Bronco was known for its rugged exterior, truck-like design, and sturdy performance. As a nod to its original model, the new Bronco will be built where it was born in 1966 — at the Wayne, Michigan plant that produced Broncos for 30 years. The all-new 2021 Ford Bronco was revealed on Monday, July 13th at 8:00 pm EST. So, what do we know so far about this classic redesign? Let’s break it down. The Doors Will Be Removable and Safer

Both the front and rear doors of the brand-new 2021 Ford Broncoare removable, as well as the roof. Side mirrors are mounted to the base of the A-pillars and the doors can be stored in the cargo area. We’re hoping for a more sophisticated and simplified removal than the Wrangler’s screw-and-bolt system, since Ford patented a door-removal system that included a set of latches.

Along with the removable doors, Ford has designed tube doors that include an airbag system with retractable pillars that span the gap of a removed door. In the event of a crash, these pillars can deploy the airbags.

The New Bronco Will Be Based on The Ranger’s Body Type

Like the Bronco, Ford recently redesigned and released a brand-new Ranger after years off the market. The new Bronco’s model will be based on the Ford Ranger’s body, giving it off-roading capability with a smaller wheelbase and lighter weight than the F-150. Smaller and more agile than some of the larger full-size pickups, the Bronco will also feature a rear-mounted spare tire for the classic off-road SUV look.

The 2021 Ford Bronco Will Offer Two Engine Options

The new Bronco boasts 2 engine options, the standard being a 2.3L inline-four EcoBoost engine with 270 horsepower and 310 lb. ft. of torque. Bronco fans hoping for even more horsepower will love the 2.7L Twin-Turbo V6 option. Both engines can be mated to Ford's10-speed automatic transmission for smoother off-roading capabilities. If you want the ultimate adventure mobile, you can even opt for a 7-speed manual transmission with a 'crawler' gear.

There May Even Be a Hybrid Bronco Option One Day

Another hopeful feature we’re excited about is a hybrid Bronco option. In line with environmental and consumption concerns, Ford is adding more green choices across their entire lineup, Bronco included. And, with the F-150 already getting a hybrid model, we expect that both the Bronco and its frame-sharing Ranger will too.
